I like Rod Stewart. He is a storyteller in how he sings the lyrics. Sounds like having a conversation with a buddy; love interest; a spouse; a child depending on where the story is taking you. But you feel he is talking to you. Love; loneliness; letting go; going home; observing life; travel and discover plays a large part in the music.
A testimonial in what it feels in this place and time. Passionate and quite visual. You can easily say, 'Hey I know how that song feels. I have been there in that moment.' That is what music is supposed to be.
Some on this list are one he originated, and others were covers, but either way they become a Rod Stewart song. Heart and soul all the way through. In honor of his 80th Birthday, January 10th, here is my 30 favorites.
